Compose Word/WordPad Documents using KickKeys After
installing Kickkeys successfully you should see a small To create a document you need to run Microsoft Word or WordPad and open or create a new document. Choose MeghneelBengali font for Bengali documents, MeghneelAssamese for Assamese, Kkdvng font for Hindi or KkTamil font for Tamil etc. You can use other fonts as well, however you will need to create the KDF file related to that font first. KickKeys ships with KDF for MeghneelBengali, MeghneelAssamese, KkTamil, Kkdvng, KkRussian, KkBelarusian, KkUkrainian, KkBulgarian fonts . Left click on the KickKeys icon in the
system tray. You should get a message saying your application has been trapped. KickKeys icon will also be changed to You need to disable the "Auto Correct" feature of MS-Word as it is designed for English language. Go to MS-Word - Tools - AutoCorrect and then remove check-marks from all the check-boxes in "AutoCorrect" tab. Do the same for "AutoFormat As You Type" and "AutoFormat" as well. After you are done click on Ok button. You need to do this only once since MSWord remembers your settings. Type
your document. When you want to save your file you need to click on
KickKeys icon again to release Word/WordPad and then you can save the
file using English letters in the Please read the concept note first It tells you about the concept that has been followed to create the key maps. To open concept note right click on the KickKeys icon and navigate to tools and then concept note. Left click on concept note.
If you want to change your font not only you need to change your font in Word or WordPad, you need to select the same key definition file (provided you have one for that font) by right clicking on Kickkeys icon and navigating to Key Definition File option. eg. For writing in MeghneelBengali your setting will look like:
You have different tools for helping you through the entire typing process. Right click on KickKeys icon, select the required one from tools. Lookup and Soft Keyboard can be present on top of your Word/WordPad document. Tools ->Lookup helps you to lookup the key mapping. If you write the English letter in the "Go To" it will take you to the mapped letter of the other language.
By clicking on any letter of Tools ->Soft Keyboard you can send the letter of the other language in your Word/WordPad document (Soft Keyboard option does not work while writing emails) .
Tools -> Key Mapping will give you a listing of all the mapped keys. Just
a word of caution, since KickKeys traps your application it is a good
practice to release the applications and go to How to Write Mails in Outlook and Outlook Express using Kickkeys: Just like composing documents, you need to trap the mail client Outlook and Outlook Express by clicking on the KickKeys icon. Select the required font for your selected language.The font should be set to the one supported by your current KDF too. When you want to write in English again release KickKeys. Key Definition File Key Definition File or KDF is the central idea behind transliteration. With this version of KickKeys eight fonts for the eight languages Bengali, Hindi, Tamil, Assamese, Russian, Bulgarian, Belarusian, Ukrainian (Bengali font MeghneelBengali, Hindi font Kkdvng, Assamese font MeghneelAssamese, Tamil font KkTamil and the corresponding Cyrillic fonts for the Russian, Bulgarian, Ukrainian and Belarusian languages) and their corresponding KDFs are supplied.You may save a particular KDF to another name and change the mappings. Thus, two persons using the same machine can have their own customized key mappings for a single font. You can edit all these KDF options by going to the edit menu. You can create new KDFs too from scratch for any language or any font. Refer to Help documentation provided for this.
